2018 Fox Valley Officials Association Officiating Clinics

The Fox Valley Officials Association will be hosting Level 1 and Level 2 clinics this summer. All clinics will meet IHSA requirements and are certified by the IHSA.

Level 1 Clinic for 2-Person Mechanics

(Note: For this level 1 clinic, there is NO requirement to officiate any games.)

This 2-Person Mechanics Clinic is designed for officials who are registered (X) and have less than 4-years’ experience. This clinic will emphasize basic mechanics and positioning for the 2-Person System along with topics including but not limited to sportsmanship, conflict resolution, professionalism, officiating philosophy and working with assignment chairmen and the IHSA. A portion of the classroom session will include the review of video clips of play situations This clinic primarily targets the newer official.

Location: McHenry High School West Cafeteria on Crystal Lake Road

Date: Thursday 6/21 (6:00pm-10:00pm) classroom. Games will be 6/22 and 6/23 if you wish to work. These games are in the McHenry High School Girls Shootout.

Level 2 Clinic for 3-Person Mechanics

(Note: For this level 2 clinic, there is a requirement to officiate 3 games.)

This is for the official that has or is moving to a full varsity schedule and is looking to advance within the IHSA tournament structure. This is held in conjunction with the Crystal Lake Boys Summer Shootout. This 3-Person Clinic is designed for officials who are recognized (R) and/or certified (C) with more than 6 years’ experience and are primarily interested in working boys’ IHSA contests. This clinic will emphasize mechanics and positioning for the 3-Person System, rules applications, video clips of game situations as highlights.  All clinics will be conducted by certified IHSA clinicians. Level 2 clinic attendees will be observed by state final officials, clinicians, and tournament officials with a collective 100+ years of experience. Many area assignors are also scheduled to appear and observe officials in game situations. These assignors are looking to hire for the 2018-19 season.

Location: Crystal Lake South High School, 1200 McHenry Ave. Crystal Lake

Dates: Thursday, 6/28 (6:00-10:00) classroom. Friday / Saturday, 6/23 & 6/24 games.

Cost: $ 45 for the clinics. (Official will NOT be paid for the games worked)
